"As we have witnessed in recent years, there has been a lot of confusion around the use of race and ethnicity in medicine and medical algorithms. We are focusing on how race and ethnicity informs and biases precision medicine diagnostics and therapeutics. We are also addressing how machine learning has the potential to both accentuate and reduce existing bias in these precision medicine tasks. At this year’s conference, we will provide expert-led discussions of how identity is used in care and how to best advance precision medicine for all populations. As we have done over the past several years, we will center on elevating the patient voice and building patient engagement. To see the speaker lineup and register, go to bit.ly/pm21hms. Please send questions to precisionmedicine@hms.harvard.edu."

Confirmed faculty include Florence Bourgeois (BCH), Ariel Stern (HBS), Ameet Sarpatwari (HMS), and Tianxi Cai (HSPH). This event is free and open to any graduate level students with an interest in this topic. Advance registration is required.

About regulatory science:

Regulatory science is the science of developing and assessing novel therapeutics, devices, and biomarkers from discovery through post-market. Regulatory science brings together experts from all aspects of the drug development pipeline including academics, industry professionals and government regulators.

We hope you can join us as we work to build a more cohesive regulatory science community in Boston.

We hope to see you there!
